schedule Friday 23 de May

This May 16, Glowatch returns — the citizen science initiative that invites people to walk through cities at night to identify sources of light pollution. Sign up as a monitor and be part of this important activity.

On Friday, May 16, the third edition of the Glowatch Walks will take place in various cities across Chile. The event is organized by the Skies of Chile Foundation, the Center for Light and Energy Research (Ciluz), and the Center for Astrophysics and Associated Technologies (CATA). We invite you to sign up as a monitor and help us identify sources of light pollution in your community.

What are the Glowatch Walks?

Each semester, citizens walk through their cities at night to observe and report public light fixtures that cause light pollution, such as glare, poorly directed light, cold white light, or intrusive lighting. All reports are recorded in Glowatch, a citizen science tool that allows for easy reporting of light pollution sources via WhatsApp.

How to sign up?

Help us bring Glowatch Walks to new cities! Sign up as a volunteer to lead a walk in your community. The only requirement is to attend a short online induction session on Thursday, May 8 at 3:00 p.m.
