The organization will be informing about the effects of light pollution. The festival will take place on November 10, 11, and 12 at Parque Santa Rosa de Apoquindo and will feature more than 100 representatives from the scientific community, as well as performances by artists such as Pedropiedra, Ases Falsos, Diego Lorenzini, and Tikitiklip.
“A long-term opportunity,” is how Daniela González, executive director of Fundación Cielos de Chile, describes the participation of this organization in the second edition of the Ladera Sur Festival, which will take place between November 10 and 12 at Parque Santa Rosa de Apoquindo, in Santiago.
The first edition held in 2022, brought together more than 10,000 people, so the expectations are to exceed this figure: “There is an interest from people in learning more about environmental issues and causes and how we can be agents of change. As Fundación Cielos de Chile, we are driven by the same passion to promote and protect our dark skies,” says the executive director.
The participation of Fundación Cielos de Chile is part of what Ladera Sur calls the Environmental Brotherhood, a space they will share with more than 60 civil society organizations. In that sense, Daniela hopes that people will approach their stand and be informed about the importance of protecting dark skies.
“Artificial lights at night prevent us from seeing the spectacle of a starry sky, which since the beginning of time has determined the development of our human species, and today translates into advances in astronomy and the discovery of the deeper universe,” explains González, emphasizing the importance of continuing to educate on living in a more efficient and sustainable way: “Nature connects us with who we are and at the same time, allows us to develop science, technology, and innovation as forms of sustainable productive development,” says the executive director of Fundación Cielos de Chile.
The organization will participate with a stand where through design experiences, people can learn about what light pollution is and how it is visualized in our daily lives.
